Madonna's Tour Highest Grossing Of The Year - Bruce Springsteen Follows Closely Behind

American superstar Madonna’s world tour in support of her brand new, controversially-titled album ‘MDNA’ was the highest-grossing tour of the year according to reports, having sold out 72 shows across the globe.

The tour, which saw her reach the USA, the UK, UAE, Spain, Russia, France, Holland, Germany, Finland, Canada, and many other countries, kicked off in May earlier this year, and ran until November - finishing in North Carolina on the 15th of last month.

After calculating the gross income from the incredible 1,635,176 tickets she has reportedly shifted this year, it’s been revealed that Madonna earned a staggering $228million - or £141million - from touring this year.

Following closely behind was rock and roll legend Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band, who played some awe-inspiring (and extremely lengthy) gigs this year - including an epic duet with Paul McCartney which was unfortunately cut short after they exceeded the Hyde Park curfew.

Springsteen also played a massive 72 shows - although he only sold out 54 - with tickets costing less than Madonna’s, something which didn’t stop him picking up a hefty $199million (£123million) in tour income.

Pink Floyd Roger Waters completes the Top 3 with his always popular Wall tours, having earned $186million or £115million this year. Following those three, you have the Michael Jackson Cirque Du Soleil show, Coldplay, Lady Gaga André Rieu, Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw, Van Halen, and Jay Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne.

What do you think of the results - surprised there’s no Bieber? Is Madonna a worthy winner? Let us know your opinion in the comments section below. You’ll also find links to find tickets to any of Bruce Springsteen’s UK and Ireland shows.
