Bungle Unveils Brand New Soul:R Single 'Astral Travel'/'Aura' - Listen Now

André Sobota - or, as you probably know him better, Brazilian drum and bass star Bungle - has been at the forefront of the liquid scene for almost 10 years, and always produces music that will leave your hairs standing and your ears soothed. ’Astral Travel’/’Aura’, the latest single from the master himself, is no different from that, and will have you sitting in your chair/stool/beanbag/whatever in awe for a good while after listening.

Asked by Soul:R chief Marcus Intalex himself to produce a standalone single for his iconic label - with no release deadline, expectations, or limitations - he returned with two tracks so brilliant that it would almost be surprising, if it wasn’t for the fact that Bungle was behind them. By all means, these tunes aren’t your rags jungle, nor are they crazy rewind material. They aren’t like the stream of insanely dark and dungeon-esque style drum and bass which has been flowing out recently, and they certainly won’t be in any of Original Sin’s sets anytime soon.

That doesn’t mean that they haven’t been causing a lot of talking when Intalex has been dropping them at raves in the past couple of months, and they’ll definitely be doing the same when the single sees a release on January 20th. Available on 12” vinyl, with ‘Astral Travel’ on the A-side and ‘Aura’ on the flip, the record is Soul:R’s first release of 2013 - and will no doubt chauffeur the label into the new year in style.

Featuring epic church organ-style synths, soft percussion fine-tuned with the most expert of precision, and melancholy melodies that literally provoke deep thought in such a way that it’s almost psychedelic, the two tracks are nothing less than beautiful and should be given at least one play by anyone who loves stunning, liquid drum and bass. You can check it out below - make sure you grab it when it hits shelves later this month if you enjoy.
