Charlotte Church Announces Release Of New EP 'TWO'

Having released her critically lauded EP ‘ONE’ last autumn, Charlotte Church is pleased to confirm the release date for her next EP ‘TWO’. The second of a five part series, ‘TWO’ will be released on March 4th through her own label Alligator Wine.

‘TWO’ sees the evolution of Charlotte’s sound continue; lead track ‘Glitterbombed’- which she performed live on the Jonathan Ross Christmas Special – opens with tip-toeing synths, flaring tribal drums, and delicate vocals before exploding into the feral, dark-disco chorus, as Charlotte cries: “I’ve got glitter in my wounds, since I was glitterbombed by you”.

Elsewhere on ‘TWO’, Charlotte’s new experimental sound soars on ‘Nerve’, with her distinctive vocals rising gloriously through a vocoder. At times, it feels as though the track is going to sonically tear apart. ‘The Mistress’ offers a vaudeville yet touching mirror image of ‘Nerve’ with songwriting that sounds like it comes straight from the 1930s. The mood flips with ‘Breach of the Peace’, deceptive in its simplicity, ethereal and expansive, whilst the beautiful and hypnotic ‘Lasts, or Eschaton’ cements that Church has finally found her true sound.

Enjoying the freedom that self-releasing offers, Charlotte has been writing and producing the tracks from the EP series herself and they also see her fully understanding and utilizing the entirety of her voice.

With more UK dates to be confirmed shortly, Charlotte Church will be making her first ever appearance at SXSW in March before heading across the States for a string of dates and a showcase at Canadian Music Week. Playing with her 5-piece band, you can see her Jonathan Ross performance below.
