Bjork Launches Kickstarter Campaign To Help Fund 'Biophilia' App Expansion

Icelandic singer-songwriter Bjork has launched a Kickstarter Campaign to help raise money to support her ‘Biophilia’ project, which will see her apps available for Window 8, Android, and Mac Desktop.

The star unveiled her Biophilia apps in 2011 alongside her multimedia album of the same name, and they’re currently available to download for iPhones, iPads and iPods. Designed to help children learn about science and music, Bjork is hoping to expand the apps’ formats so they’re available to those who use Macs, PCs, or Android phones - and she’s now started a Kickstarter Campaign to raise funds to help accomplish it.

“The Biophilia Educational Program is a new way to teach children about science and music,” says Björk. “It has met with success in many cities, sparking interest from kids and educators from all over the world, from South America to East Asia to Africa. The most interest has come from students from low-income households and schools with underfunded art budgets, and the only way to bring the project to those people is to have Biophilia reprogrammed for Android and Windows 8. The Biophilia educational project is strictly non-profit and volunteer-based, and that’s why we need your help.”

Those who donate to the Biophilia Kickstarter campaign could earn themselves rewards depending on their donation, including early copies of the Android app, exclusive t-shirts and Biophilia documentary DVDs. Those pledging £800 for the project will also earn a VIP admission ticket to one of the Biophilia live shows coming to Paris, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Tokyo this year.

You can check out the Biophilia Education Program website out here - make sure you donate if you’re a fan of the project!
