HIM frontman Ville Valo has been diagnosed with severe asthma and pneumonia, forcing the band to cancel their US tour.

The band were set to kick off the tour in LA’s House of Blues on May 3rd, but after pulling a handful of dates, the band have now been forced to cancel the whole venture. A statement posted to the band’s official Facebook page reads:

“HIM’s North American tour (which was due to kickoff in Los Angeles on May 3rd at the House Of Blues) has been cancelled due to unforeseen medical circumstances. HIM’s lead vocalist Ville Valo has been diagnosed with severe asthma with presumptive pneumonia. Tickets for all dates will be refunded at the point of purchase. HIM will be back later this summer as part of the Rock Allegiance tour.”

The tour was scheduled in support of their eighth studio album ‘Tears on Tape’, and also sees them scheduled in for a set at this summer’s Download Festival. Stick with Stereoboard to find out whether Valo’s illness affects any more of their gigs, including Download.
