Kantyze Release Brand New EP 'Fish Eye'

Monday, 10 June 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

The name Kantyze isn’t one we were too familiar with her at Stereoboard, having only really heard of them via their contribution to IM:Ltd’s wicked ‘Junction 12’ compilation earlier this year. Now, we’ve got hold of their brand new EP ‘Fish Eye’, and the French duo have given us a taste of what they’re really about!

Consisting of Igor and Fred (aka Knockoutz and Feubo), the duo - who also run the label m-Atome, that released this very EP - described this release as simply a demonstration of what they feel like writing at the moment; a frank and honest evaluation of a rather hefty four-track collection that hit shelves today.

Opening with it’s title track ‘Fish Eye’, the EP immediately lets you know these two Frenchmen mean business. Combining drum and bass percussion with a techno-influenced (or perhaps even gabba-influenced?!) stomp, and a dark industrial bassline with bleeping futuristic synths, it sets the tone for the rest of the EP - a unique blend of unusual and experimental sounds.

Also on the EP alongside ‘Dren’ and the evil half-time number that is ‘Marauder VIP’, is my personal favourite ‘Factory Slum’. It’s eery build-up is met by a neurofunk steppa with a wicked bassline that would tear the face off any mouth-chewing raver, and I’ve been rinsing it ever since it landed in my inbox earlier in the summer.

You can check out the tracks below - if you like them, they’re available to grab here!
