Superstar guitarist and Chic founder Nile Rodgers has revealed how he shocked pop singer Madonna back in the 80s - by NOT trying to have sex with her!
Rodgers is known for his work with Chic as well as as a solo artist, but also worked as a producer with a load of the world’s biggest musicians - including David Bowie, Duran Duran, and, of course, Madonna. He produced Maged’s 1984 hit album ‘Like a Virgin’, and though he must have really excelled on the record, it wasn’t his work that surprised the star - but his decision not to make a move on her!
Speaking to The Sun, Rodgers explained:
“I was standing at an elevator when she goes, 'Why don't you want to fuck me?’ I was like, 'What did you just say to me?' She was wondering why I had not propositioned her. She couldn't understand that. It was like, 'Everybody wants me'.”
He continued on to say:
“One time I slept with a really beautiful artist I was working with and it was a really wrong thing to do. So, I didn't work like that. I grew as close to Madonna as I've ever been to a woman without being romantically involved. She was the most driven person. The day I met her she said, ‘I’m going to be a really big superstar'.”
