Nile Gregory Rodgers, Jr. is an American record producer, songwriter, musician, composer, arranger and guitarist. He is the lead guitarist and co-founding member with Bernard Edwards of the band Chic, which has been active since 1976 and was one of the most successful groups of the disco era. He is famed for his "chucking" rhythm guitar style.
The band, CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers, released their debut self-titled album in 1977, and they went on to release a further six albums, including ‘C'est Chic’, which hit #4 in the Billboard Hot 200 and ‘Risqué’, which also reached the Top Five, before the group disbanded in 1983.
Reforming in 1990, the band released the album, ‘Chic-Ism’ in 1992, before disbanding again. Returning in 1996, they released the album, ‘It's About Time’, in April 2016. They are best known for tracks such as Le Freak, Everybody Dance, Good Times and I Want Your Love.
Rodgers' band have headlined their own shows and tours across the world, including headlining Bestival in 2014, playing including two nights at London's Roundhouse, and headlining Nile Rodgers’ FOLD Festival in 2016.
Chic featuring Nile Rodgers embarked on the North American 2054 Tour with Earth, Wind and Fire in summer 2017 and played shows in London and Dublin in October as part of BluesFest.
