English heavy metal veterans Paradise Lost have announced that they’ve put together a very special setlist for their upcoming gig at the Metal Hammer Golden God Awards, one that’ll see them performing duets, covers, and their hits.
The show - at the Indigo2 in London on June 17 - will be headlined by Motorhead, and it’ll also see Paradise Lost, who released their 13th album ‘Tragic Idol’ last year, rocking out on stage too. And, to mark the occasion, the band have promised they’ve got some tricks up their sleeve.
We can reveal that they’ve invited their friend Cristina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil to sing 'Say Just Words' in a duet with frontman Nick Holmes, while Gus G (Firewind, Ozzy Osbourne) will join the band to pay tribute to the godfathers of metal, Black Sabbath, for a cover of 'Into the Void'.
Speaking of working with Scabbia, Holmes commented:
“Really looking forward to singing with Cristina, I think it will be a lot of fun. She has an amazing voice, and I'm looking forward to being completely overshadowed!”
Guitarist Greg Mackintosh is also excited - especially to be playing with Gus G. He said:
"It is the dream job of any guitarist to play for Ozzy and Gus achieved that. I watched him at Graspop festival and he slayed the crowd. It will be awesome playing my favourite Sabbath song with Gus."
It’s kinda expected that there’ll be fan footage on YouTube, but it’s a shame that you probably won’t be able to get tickets (unless you’re one of the lucky ones who’s already grabbed one!) If you do want to see all this going down in person, cross your fingers and hope that Cristina will join Nick again on their tour later this year, when Lacuna Coil support Paradise Lost on their up and coming UK dates - which celebrate the band’s 25th anniversary.
