Paradise Lost are an English gothic metal band from Halifax, West Yorkshire, featuring frontman Nick Holmes, guitarists Greg Mackintosh and Aaron Aedy, and bassist Steve Edmondson.

Formed in 1988, the band released their self-titled debut album in in 1990, and later signed to Music for Nations, releasing their third album, ‘Shades Of God’, in 1993. They signed to EMI Electrola to release their seventh album, ‘Host’, in 1999 and GUN Records in 2002, releasing their ninth album, ‘Symbol of Life’. For their eleventh album, ‘In Requiem’, in 2007, they signed to Century Media, where they remain to this day. The band released their last album, ‘The Plague Within’, in 2015 and finally their latest album, ‘Medusa’, dropped in 2017.

Photo: Anne C. Swallow This year has been shit. From COVID-19 to the Australian wildfires to ‘murder hornets’, it seems the only thing 2020 has wanted to do is spread panic and hopelessness worldwide. People are scared. Nick Holmes is also grimly fascinated.
