One Direction star Harry Styles has adopted some guerilla recording tactics for the band's forthcoming album - even going as far as to enlist the help of a hotel maid.
The band were working on a new track while staying in the hotel, and after laying eyes on one of the maids there was only one thing on Styles’ mind. After getting past the shyness, he managed to get her to record a ‘groan’ (or “Urrrgghhhhh”, as Harry says) for the song.
He told The Sun:
“We needed a, you know, a groan on one of the songs. So I asked a lady at the hotel to record the 'Urgghhhhh!' She was nervous at first, but soon got into the swing of it.”
His bandmate Louis Tomlinson then stepped in to talk about the technical side of recording in hotel rooms:
“We had to do it that way or there'd be no time. We stuck the mattresses against the walls for the acoustics. We'd be recording the best vocal ever - you're thinking, 'I'm really smashing this!' - then there'd be a huge knock on the door and you'd get, 'Room service!' or 'Housekeeping!' We'd be, like, 'Nooooo!' and have to start again.”
The band's latest tune ‘Best Song Ever’ is released July 22, and it’s the first track to be taken from their forthcoming third album 'This Is Us'. The band have also lined up a UK stadium tour for 2014 - check the dates and links below to find tickets!
