Motorhead Comment On Shortened Wacken Performance

Monday, 05 August 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Following Motorhead's shortened Wacken headline performance over the weekend, which was cut short after Lemmy Kilmister struggled with recurring health problems, the band have responded with a positive words telling fans not to worry.

The statement issued to the band's official Facebook page reveals that the trio decided to go ahead with the show, despite Lemmy's recent health problems, as "that's how Lemmy rolls" but then goes on to confirm that "Lemmy finally realized he might have bitten off a little more than he could chew." The statement signs off with the positive words, "Motörhead will be back, don't you worry!"

"The show had to go on because that's how Lemmy rolls. Even though he was not 100% fit, he refused to feel he was letting the 85,000 Wacken fans down. They kicked ass in the 100+degree heat for a shortened, but powerful, set before, Lemmy finally realized he might have bitten off a little more than he could chew. Thus he will embark upon the recuperation recommended. We know that rumors are flying around, but once he fully recharges, Motörhead will be back, don't you worry!"

Reports on August 2 revealed that Motorhead spent less than 30 minutes on the Wacken stage (45 minutes less than scheduled) and their set was laced with long stretches of silence. A statement from Wacken Festival is available here. Check out a three-song clip from the band's performance, below.
