Framing Hanley Announce Release Date of New Album 'The Sum of Who We Are'

Saturday, 21 September 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

American rockers Framing Hanley have announced that they will release their third album ‘The Sum of Who We Are’ on October 22.

The Nashville five-piece are gearing up for a series of UK gigs later this year - where they’ll be supporting The Blackout on their ‘Final Party’ tour, the last series of shows in support of their own latest album ‘Start the Party’ - and the day after it all kicks off, they’ll be unleashing their highly-anticipated third LP.

The new collection is the long awaited follow up to their 2010 release ‘A Promise to Burn’ and their debut album ‘The Moment’ (2008), which featured their hit singles ‘Hear Me Now’ and ‘Lollipop’. Their long-awaited new effort is set to be their best yet - and you can check out a five-track sampler below.

‘The Sum of Who We Are’ is the bands boldest artistic statement to date, capturing the essence of innocence and hope, light, darkness, struggle and determination. The album’s cover (check it out on the right) is a powerful image that conjures up deep emotions, resonating with the lyrical and musical theme of the album.

Frontman Kenneth Nixon has opened up about the album and its cover - check out what he had to say:

“The cover is a photo of my son at the park taken by our drummer Chris' wife Krystl. When my wife showed me the picture, it immediately resonated in so many ways. At the time, the other band members and I were all going back and forth for cover ideas for the record, but when I saw this, it was just too strong of an image to not be used. It was perfect!

“Looking at that picture I see so many things. I see innocence. I see determination... the ‘I'll make my own path’ adage. Walking from the light, to the darkness; that to me is a pretty heavy statement in itself. I could go on all day with a million different things of what the picture says to me, but the best thing about this cover is I think it's a picture people can look at and interpret their own meaning. No different than a song really. I love hearing a fan's perspective of a song because it is always different. I expect this picture to be the same.”

As mentioned, the band will be hitting the road to tour alongside The Blackout in October and November, meaning you’ll be able to catch the guys playing their new material live. If that sounds up your street, check the dates and links below the video to find tickets through Stereoboard!
