Wilko Johnson Announces Two Night Stand At London's KOKO

Tuesday, 24 September 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Former Dr Feelgood guitarist Wilco Johnson, along with with Norman Watt-Roy and Dylan Howe, has announced two performances at London's KOKO for October 13 and 14.

Wilko continues to be in good health and spirits and wants to take the opportunity to be as active as possible, despite being diagnosed with terminal cancer earlier this year. As Elton John recently said: “He is too busy living life to think about fucking dying!”

Wilko recently confirmed he will record a farewell album with the Who frontman Roger Daltrey. Johnson met Daltrey at an awards ceremony a few weeks ago. The pair instantly clicked and the idea for the album came pretty quickly. Speaking to The Mirror, Johnson has promised it won’t be a morbid affair!

“They did tell me in January I’d be dead in October, but I may last into next year. I hope we’ll have something done before I go. There are a few more things I want to record. I wrote some songs right after getting this diagnosis.

"It won’t be morbid, though. I can’t have any truck with that. The music I want to continue to make, I think, generally should be a laugh not a cry. So there’s not going to be any cancer dirges.”

Wilko Johnson UK & Ireland Tour Dates are as follows

Sun October 13th 2013 - LONDON KOKO
Mon October 14th 2013 - LONDON KOKO
