Southampton's Guildhall Renamed The O2 Guildhall Southampton

Monday, 07 October 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

The Southampton Guildhall is set to become the UK's latest O2 sponsored venue.

The long-standing venue, which was first opened back in 1937, will become the 16th location in the UK to be subject to a deal with O2 Telefónican and Live Nation and will be renamed the O2 Guildhall Southampton.

The Guildhall is operated by Live Nation and will follow on from venues like Manchester’s O2 Apollo, the many O2 Academies across the country and the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London.

Paul Latham of Live Nation comments on the deal, saying:

“This is a fabulous example of how we at Live Nation work with our respective partners to deliver a great offering to our customers. In this instance, we are combining the heritage and civic pride of our partner at Southampton Council with the vision and talent of our marketing partners at O2, to deliver enhanced facilities and engagement opportunities."

O2’s Mark Stevenson adds:

“At O2 we know how much our customers love music and we're proud to be adding this iconic building to our O2 Academy portfolio, and to bring benefits such as Priority Tickets to music fans across the Southampton area.”

The move will hopefully see even more big names hitting the venue. What do you think of the news? Leave us a comment in the box below!
