Wu Tang Star RZA Working On New Album With Interpol's Paul Banks

US rapper RZA has revealed that he’s working on an album with Interpol frontman Paul Banks.

The Wu Tang star has reportedly been holed up in his home studio with Banks for six months, and when they find a spare moment in between their games of chess, they’ve been putting their musical ‘sandwich’ together to work on tracks.

According to an interview with Rolling Stone, RZA’s manager asked the 44-year old - who’s also a keen record producer - who he’d like to record an album with, and Banks was top of his wishlist.

He told the site:

“I love Paul .My manager came to me and said, 'Who do you want to do an album with?' I said, 'Well, Paul just has an energy about him'. He just left my house. He came and spent two weeks at my house – I have a guesthouse in my studio.

“We play chess together and just hang out … I think if we put our sandwich together it will be great.”

He continued on to say that the music they’ve been working on is a far cry from his usual hip-hop sound - and is instead ‘unique and very peculiar’.

“We went to the studio and we started writing songs and they sound very, very different than what I do, but very unique and very peculiar. That's where my heart is at musically.”

Though he has been performing with Wu Tang, RZA hasn’t put out any solo material for almost five years, but we could be about to see a brand new collection from him and Banks, and we’re excited to hear what it sounds like. Will you be tuning in? Leave us a comment in the box below!
