Mumford & Sons / The Vaccines Members Form Supergroup - Which Disbands After Six Shows

Monday, 28 October 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

A supergroup formed by Mumford and Sons star Winston Marshall last Thursday had by Saturday night embarked on a six-show, one-day Nashville tour - only to disband that same night.

Named Salvador Dali Parton, the group featured the Vaccines' frontman Justin Young on vocals, Old Crow’s Gil Landry and Marshall on guitar, Apache Relay’s Mike Harris on bass and Jeff the Brotherhood guitarist Jake Orrall on drums, but if you’re expecting a super indie-folk sound, you’d be more than a bit wrong.

Formed on Thursday, the group wrote a 20-minute, six-song set to perform at a selection of shows on the weekend and the following day, their one and only rehearsal took place. On Saturday night, they headed out to complete a hectic schedule, kicking off at 7pm at The High Watt and ending with a 1am gig in the FooBar.

It’s been reported that the guys recorded loads of footage from the night and plan to release it as a live album in the future, though nothing else has been said - so we’ll have to keep our fingers crossed that some footage surfaces soon. We may not have been lucky enough to attend the shows, but one internet user - called Ken - did.

He wrote (via Rolling Stone) of the gigs:

“I was at all six of these shows. The show where Marshall played while crowd surfing was the result of me and a new friend hoisting him above the crowd for him to do so. It was a great night as 4 of us rushed out the back door of each venue with the band and raced to the next show. It was a miracle that we got into each show and were able to get right up front. This was a night I won't soon be forgetting.”
