William Doyle - aka East India Youth - has announced details of a UK tour and his debut album.
Doyle has been hard at work on his first full-length record, ‘Total Strife Forever’, for the past three years and recorded it in his London home, having been inspired by the likes of Bjork and Brian Eno.
Speaking of the album, he said:
“‘Total Strife Forever’ was simply a throwaway phrase I had written in one of my notebooks around the time of completing (the at the time untitled) TOTAL STRIFE FOREVER III, yet one that I couldn't get out of my head and strongly related to the time of making the songs that would make up the record.
“The fact that it was a pun, in all caps, seemed initially at odds with the mood of the record. It was poking fun. Yet in this absurdity it also seemed to fit the themes of the album perfectly. I was very attracted to this idea; despite the many problems it may cause me in the future.”
Now signed to Stolen Recordings, he’ll release the collection under his alias East India Youth in January next year. His tour kicks off at Sheffield’s Cathedral on January 29, and will also see him performing in Manchester, Glasgow, Liverpool, Bristol, London, and Brighton. Tickets for the gigs are on sale now, and will cost you £6.00 + fees (London £7.00 + fees) - you can find your pair through Stereoboard using the dates and links below.
