Big Truck, a new project from Soft Play guitarist Laurie Vincent, have announced their debut album.
Out on August 28 via Marshall Records, 'Midday At The Middleway' will feature the band's April single Central Reservation Blues as well as their new track Collided, which delivers a woozy post-punk groove, with catchy melodies and influences from jazz, metal and soul. Vincent said:
"Collided is one of my favourite songs on the record. My musicianship is quite untrained, and I didn’t even realise I was writing it in 6/8 time," Vincet explained. "That’s the kind of stuff that’s been allowed to shine on this record, because it’s a full band and Sam’s [Coppin] jazz background helps those moments to work."
Drummer Coppin added: "Collided has this quality that I think is a snapshot into how good Laurie is. It scratches the surface of what he is going to reveal as a result of this project."
Big Truck have shows lined up throughout the summer, including their first major outdoor festival appearance at 2000trees next month and a homecoming date at the Tunbridge Wells Forum. Head here for details.
