A musical documenting the early life of Kinks legend Ray Davies is set to open in London next year.
'Sunny Afternoon', which features the music of Davies and a script by playwright Joe Penhall, opens at the Hampstead Theatre on April 18. The venue described the show in a press release:
"Set against the back-drop of a Britain caught mid-swing between the conservative '50s and riotous '60s, this production explores the euphoric highs and agonising lows of one of Britain’s most iconic bands and the irresistible music that influenced generations."
Davies, meanwhile, will play two UK dates in March 2014 as part of his Americana: Songs, Stories & Home Movies project.
