Phil Everly, one half of the iconic vocal duo the Everly Brothers, has died aged 74.
Everly's wife, Patti, told the Los Angeles Times that the vocalist died of complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on Friday. She said: "We are absolutely heartbroken. He fought long and hard.”
Alongside his brother, Don, Everly produced a string of classic hits, including Wake Up Little Susie, Bye Bye Love and All I Have to Do Is Dream, with the Everly Brothers' self-titled debut arriving back in 1958.
In recent months the duo's music has been thrust back into the spotlight by Billie-Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones, who re-recorded their 'Songs Our Daddy Taught Us' album as 'Foreverly'.
