Victoria Parklife: Stereoboard's Field Day Setlist

Wednesday, 04 June 2014 Written by Gavin Rees

This weekend, Field Day returns to London’s Victoria Park and, as has become the way of things with the festival, the line up is their biggest yet. Spread over two days and eight stages, it promises to be an occasion packed with singalongs, head-crushing beats and perhaps even a little sunshine if the weather, just this one time, winds its neck in.

Here we’ve put together a rundown of some of the acts worth noting down, but it’s far from being a definitive list. To get up close and personal with your diary and the full line up, head here.

Pixies - Eat Your Own Ears, Sunday/21:00

Right, let’s just get this out of the way. Yes, ‘Indie Cindy’ wasn't great. No, Kim Deal won’t be there. But, hand on heart, what else will you be doing on a Sunday night? This is a chance to see one of the great alt-rock bands of all time and, regardless of who’s on bass, their setlist will contain its share of gold-plated classics. Be angry about it all again on Monday morning.

Future Islands - Shacklewell Arms, Sunday/20:00

You’ve seen the Letterman clip by now and, if you’ve any sense, absorbed the quite brilliant ‘Singles’. Samuel T. Herring and the boys never deliver less than 100% and while this will find them on a bigger stage than is optimal for their all-inclusive emotional outpouring, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better live band anywhere.

Todd Terje - Resident Advisor, Saturday/18.40

So, you’re well into the realms of summer evening, and it’s time to have a little dance, isn’t it? Enter Todd Terje on the Resident Advisor stage. The Norwegian DJ released the mercilessly catchy, unashamedly upbeat ‘It’s Album Time’ earlier this year and it’s set to be a staple of the festival circuit in the next few months. Get in early, enjoy yourself.

Blood Orange - Eat Your Own Ears, Saturday/17.15

It’s not all that often that Dev Hynes treads the boards, so make sure you’re there to catch his late afternoon slot on the Eat Your Own Ears Stage. Expect the sensual, ‘80s funk-indebted grooves of ‘Cupid Deluxe’ to provide a laid back highlight.

Danny Brown - Crack Magazine, Saturday/21.40

One of hip hop’s most explosive live performers, Brown will close proceedings on the Crack Magazine stage on Saturday night. The Detroit rapper has a reputation for reworking his complex beats and visceral lyrics on stage, pushing them in increasingly powerful directions, and this is set to be huge.

Field Day Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows:

Sat June 07 2014 - LONDON Victoria Park, London
Sun June 08 2014 - LONDON Victoria Park, London
