The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach Announces Solo Project The Arcs

Friday, 24 April 2015 Written by Laura Johnson

The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach has announced his new solo project, The Arcs.

The frontman spoke to Rolling Stone about his new material. He will be releasing two singles that are inspired by the Mayweather/Manny Pacquiao boxing match, they are called Stay in My Corner and Tomato Can. They will be put out as a 7 inch vinyl, which will be available May 2 via independent retailers. You can check out the artwork above.

This will be Auerbach's first solo offering since 2009's 'Keep it Hid'. Discussing the sound of the record with Rolling Stone, he said:

"I just wanted to do my thing and get extra weird. I wanted everything to flow [and] be cohesive. A lot of the songs bleed one into the other, a lot like the Grateful Dead – my favourite records that they did. So I’ve got a lot of connected songs. It's basically everything I love about music all wrapped up into one record – that’s all!"

During the interview Auerbach also confirmed that he will be hitting the road with The Black Keys in the future to make up for shows that were cancelled due to drummer Patrick Carney's shoulder injury. No exact dates have been confirmed.
