Orphan Boy Post Video For New Single From The Provinces

Wednesday, 06 May 2015 Written by Laura Johnson

Orphan Boy have posted a video for their new single, From The Provinces.

The track is taken from their forthcoming third album, 'Coastal Tones', which is due May 25 via Concrete Recordings. Discussing the song, which is set for release June 22, frontman Rob Cross said:

"The track is an anthem for small, unsung towns. The lyrics, “satellites without gravity” refer to provincial towns now breaking free from the pull of the cities; they are culturally empowered thanks to the Internet age and can write their own chapters in British culture. We wanted to use a Sunday League football theme for the video because it represents the kind of DIY, Shop Local spirit that you see in small town music scenes. I also like the idea of the plucky strugglers succeeding against their more efficient and organised counterparts."

Check out the video below.

Orphan Boy play two intimate UK shows in June, for more details visit their website. Following this they will play Derby's DE1 Festival on July 31 and later in the year, a headline show at Manchester's Sound Control on September 12.
