Alice Bag Announces Second Solo Album, Shares Lead Single Turn It Up Featuring Kathleen Hanna

Wednesday, 31 January 2018 Written by Laura Johnson

Alice Bag has announced a new solo album.

The Bags lead singer and co-founder will release 'Blueprint', the follow up to her 2016 self-titled debut solo LP, on March 23 through Don Giovanni Records. It boasts appearances by Kathleen Hanna, Allison Wolfe, Francisca Valenzuela and Teri Gender Bender, among others.

In a statement about the record, Bag said:

“They’re all things that I have encountered that made me look at my life – at things in my life or in society that need to be corrected. I feel like we’re architects not only of our communities, but also of ourselves and also of the world.

At the time, I was having work done on my house and there’s all the things that come up when you’re looking at a blueprint. There’s a bunch of little things that come up as you’re building a structure that force you in different directions, but you still have to make sure that it all turns out the way you want.

The songs ‘Blueprint’ and ‘Turn It Up’ are really about that. ‘Turn It Up’ is a very personal look at our thoughts – the things that we choose to focus on – and how they shape who we become and what we create. If we focus on very concrete ways to make the world better – to volunteer, to talk with my mother about a problem she has, to talk to my son about going to school – that’s what you’re creating."
