Toy Share New Songs The Willo And Energy, Confirm September London Date

Thursday, 13 September 2018 Written by Jon Stickler

Toy have returned with a new release plus details of a London show later this month.

Recorded and mixed by the band between new keyboardist Max Oscarnold’s Stoke Newington flat and a south London studio, the release serves as a taste of their forthcoming album and features two songs each showcasing a different sound. The Willo is a meandering seven-minute, dreamy, folk-influenced story, while Energy is a jagged, post-punk piece. Talking about The Willo, the band explained:

"People appear to have seen Will-o'-the-wisp, a mysterious green-blue light, over the centuries. It generally means something ominous is about to happen..."

The psych band will put out the release on 12 inch vinyl on September 14 through their new label home Tough Love, while the follow-up to 2016's 'Clear Shot' is expected to arrive in January 2019.

The band have also confirmed a performance at the Shacklewell Arms in Dalston on September 28, with tickets for the show on sale now.

Toy Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows

Fri September 28 2018 - LONDON Shacklewell Arms
