Saxon To Celebrate 40th Anniversary With Castles & Eagles UK Tour

Saxon will celebrate their 40th anniversary with the Castles & Eagles UK tour.
The legendary heavy metallers are set to play their biggest show to date at Glasgow's Braehead Arena and headline the Eventim Apollo in London for the first time since 1980 - when it was Hammersmith Odeon, before finishing things up at the O2 Apollo in Manchester on October 20. They'll bring with them the castle set and eagle lighting rig, staples of the Saxon stage show.
For the tour they'll be joined by Girlschool, Diamond Head and Krokus. For the latter it will be their final shows as they have announced their retirement. Special guests Black Star Riders will also appear at the Glasgow date.
Saxon vocalist Biff Byford said:
“We are very happy to be celebrating 40 years of Saxon by playing these great venues – to be back at Hammersmith and Manchester Apollo is fantastic and to see all our Scottish friends at Braehead Arena just tops it off! The show will be the biggest and best since the classic era of the band and the set list will be …. Well let’s say we’ll start with ‘Wheels Of Steel’ – straight into ‘Strong Arm Of The Law’ into ‘Denim & Leather’ … that good enough for you?”
Prior to the shows Saxon will release the fourth instalment in 'The Eagle Has Landed Live' album series. 'The Eagle Has Landed 40' is due out on August 2 and will consist of 40 career-spanning tracks.
Tickets go on general sale at 10am on January 25.
