Saxon are an English heavy metal band from South Yorkshire, currently consisting of Biff Byford, Paul Quinn, Nigel Glockler, Nibbs Carter and Doug Scarratt.
Formed in 1976, the band released their debut self-titled album in 1979, followed by ‘Wheels of Steel’ in 1980, which hit #5 in the UK Albums Chart and ‘Strong Arm of the Law’, the same year, which also reached the Top Twenty. The band have released 21 albums in total, the latest being ‘Thunderbolt’, which was released on February 2 2018.
The band have headlined their own shows and tours across the world, including a winter tour in the UK in 2014 as part of the Warriors Of The Road - 35th Anniversary World Tour. They recently co-headlined a tour with UFO.
Saxon supported their latest album 'Thunderbolt', with a UK dates in February 2018, and a bigger European tour following through into March. The band have also announced a second leg of the tour to take place in October through to November, as well as dates in North America for 2019.

Since getting their act together again towards the end of the last century, and with a misjudged mid-late 1980s detour into American hair metal territory a distant and somewhat disturbing memory, NWOBHM stalwarts Saxon have been enjoying what seems like a never ending Indian Summer.
