Calexico And Iron & Wine Announce Collaborative Album And Autumn UK Tour, Share New Single

Thursday, 21 March 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

Calexico and Iron & Wine, aka Sam Beam, will join forces for a UK tour in November.

The longtime collaborators, who first teamed up in 2005 to release a joint EP titled 'In The Reins', will be joined by Lisa O'Neill in Edinburgh, Liverpool, Manchester, Coventry, London and Bexhill-On-Sea. Tickets go on sale at 10am on March 22.

In 2018 Beam put out the What Hurts Worse single and 'Weed Garden' EP. His most recent studio album and sixth overall, 'Beast Epic', arrived in 2017. Calexico, meanwhile, released their latest album, 'The Thread That Keeps Us' last year.

Alongside the tour news, they have also announced their debut album together. 'Years To Burn' will arrive on June 14. Head below for its lead track, Father Mountain. Discussing their collaboration, Beam said:

““They were the perfect band at the perfect time for me. I loved all their different sounds. They’re musical anthropologists, not regurgitating but absorbing what they discover.

"Coming back to the project has to do with acknowledging how much impact the first record had for me in my life.”

Calexico's Joey Burns added:

“The arranging, the writing, his sense of rhythm, the quality of his vocals— and then there’s the experimental side of Sam."
