Wednesday, 07 August 2019 Written by Laura Johnson

Boardmasters has been cancelled for 2019.

The festival was once again due to take over Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay in Newquay, Cornwall between August 7 and 11 but will not go ahead due to "severe weather conditions, specifically high winds."

The news was announced late last night via the event's social media pages, and organisers have since confirmed that full refunds will be given, with full details set to follow soon. Read the official statements below.

Wu-Tang Clan, Florence and the Machine, and Foals were due to headline this year's edition of the festival, while also set to appear were Lewis Capaldi, Plan B, Razorlight, Jax Jones + Martin Solveig, Bugzy Malone, Sam Fender, Mabel, Slaves, the Wombats, Bear’s Den, Mahalia, Dizzee Rascal, Jorja Smith, Franz Ferdinand, Wilkinson b2b Sub Focus, DJ EZ, Idles, and Boy Azooga, among many many others.

"Due to forecasted severe weather conditions, specifically high winds, Boardmasters 2019 has been cancelled.

Following full consultation with all of the relevant authorities including independent safety advisors, Devon and Cornwall Police, emergency services and the Met Office, a final decision was made this evening.

The safety of you, the fans and attendees, as well as performers and crew comes first, and the potential risk is too severe for the event to go ahead at this time.

Refund advice will be shared as soon as possible - please follow Boardmasters’ social media for official updates.

We sincerely regret the disappointment to fans, and apologise for any disruption caused to local businesses, performers and crew who were looking forward to Boardmasters as much as we were."
