Angel Olsen Announces 'Forever Means' EP, Shares Lead Single Nothing's Free

Angel Olsen has announced a new EP.
'Forever Means' will arrive on April 14 via Jagjaguwar, and features four tracks from the sessions of the singer's 2022 album, 'Big Time'.
To accompany the news, Olsen has shared the soul-leaning, piano-led opening track, Nothing's Free. Commenting on it, she said:
"Nothing’s Free is a song about "that point when self-denial breaks, and you notice how long you’ve been restraining who you are. It felt really difficult to exclude it from 'Big Time', but it felt more soulful than the direction of that record, it was coming from a different place. For me, when I wrote it, I was coming to terms with my identity and sexuality. I was opening up in a new way."
'Forever Means' was co-produced by Olsen and Jonathan Wilson, who also handled mixing, and worked with Olsen previously on 'Big Time'. Talking about the EP's theme, Olsen explained:
"Forever is to remain curious, never letting yourself think you're finished learning or exploring, while trying also to be kind and honest... I was somewhere travelling, stopped for a few days and wandering the city, and I was thinking ‘what does forever really mean? What are the things I’m seeking in friendship or love, and how can forever be attainable if we’re always changing?’ Maybe the secret to ongoing love is to embrace change as part of love itself."
The 36-year-old has dates lined up in Australia and the US, along with festival slots across Europe and the UK, where she'll appear at London's All Points East festival and End Of The Road in Salisbury.
