Neil Young has announced a US tour, his first since 2019.
The legendary singer-songwriter will play solo acoustic shows around the West Coast, at which he'll perform songs that he's never played live before.
So far, 13 concerts are scheduled for July's Coastal Tour, with stops lined up in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Paso Robles, San Diego, Berkeley and Napa in California, Bend in Oregon, and Ridgefield and Auburn in Washington State.
A story on Rolling Stone reported that Young confirmed the news with paid subscribers of his Neil Young Archives website, revealing details during a Zoom call last week:
"I don’t want to come back and do the same songs again. I’ll feel like I was on some sort of carnival ride. I’d rather be doing these others songs I haven’t done…. I won’t have to compare how I’m doing Heart Of Gold to (how I played it in) 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010, 2020."
"They’re not new songs. They’re old songs," he added. "But I wake up with them in my head every morning.
"They are songs that apply to my life right now, and apply to everyone’s lives in this era that we’re in. Some of them were written 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago, but never really played live."
Chris Pierce will support on every date. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Wednesday (June 14).
The two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer released an album with Crazy Horse, 'All Roads Lead Home', in March.
