Max Richter has announced two very special London shows.
The Germany-born, classically trained British composer has lined up the largest performances of his 2015 album 'Sleep' at Alexandra Palace on September 5 and 6 to mark the record's tenth anniversary. It will be the first time he's played it in the English capital since 2017. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on June 12.
Richter has previously played the eight-and-a-half-hour concept album at all-night shows at Sydney Opera House, Philharmonie de Paris and The Great Wall of China.
Alongside the new shows, Richter has announced a new album, ‘Sleep Circle’, which is due for release on September 5. As a preview, he's shared the cut Dream 11 / Moth-Like Stars Pt.2. Introducing it online, he said:
"Dream 11: Moth-Like Stars Pt. 2 is here, taken from my upcoming project Sleep Circle – a 90-minute journey through the space between wakefulness and sleep, shaped around the natural rhythm of a typical REM cycle. Revisiting Sleep in 2023 provided me new insights into the music, leading to this new recording at Studio Richter Mahr. Sleep Circle is coming soon."
