After leaning fully into his country influences on 2024 album ‘F-1 Trillion’, Post Malone has announced his return to the UK this September for two huge shows at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as part of a massive European run.

Part of his extensive Big Ass World Tour, the shows are set to see him celebrate a whole decade of testing pop music’s limits. Smashing together the rawness of emo, the polish of pop, the fire of hip hop, and most recently, the soul of country, his sound has evolved from the melancholy trap of debut ‘Stoney’ to the sun-baked, guitar-led musings of his latest full-length.

An artist with a stage presence that veers between arena-rock showmanship and the guy you’d love to grab a pint down the local with, Posty is behind some of the most heartfelt singalongs in the game. Showcasing them all over two evenings on one of London’s biggest stages, expect earworm hooks, tearjerking moments, mind-blowing production and, above all,  a whole lot of fun.

In the latest edition of our Setlist Draft, we round up a handful of tracks that feel essential within a Posty set, from chart-smashing successes to the vulnerable moments that highlight the man beneath the tattooed superstar.

When the moment calls for…some bittersweet reflection

Amid a set packed tight with chart-dominating anthems and hedonistic highs, Goodbyes brings one of the most emotionally gutting moments in Posty’s live show. Its moody beat offers some much-needed room to breathe and, without the addition of Young Thug’s on-record duet, his solitary rasp cuts through with a vulnerability that lands beautifully. It’s a breakup song, yes, but one soaked in resignation rather than rage, making it the perfect mid-set highlight. An opportunity for fans to lock into something more introspective before the beer-haze truly takes hold, it’s the calm before the inevitable storm.

When the moment calls for…a bucketload of angst

If there’s one thing Post Malone has absolutely nailed throughout his career, it’s heartbreak. The influence of the emo bands that soundtracked his youth has proven impossible to shake, and it’s in moments of despair and frustration that his songwriting truly shines. It doesn’t get much brighter than on Better Now. Bottling up that familiar post-relationship self-doubt into a triple whammy of irresistible pop hooks, slick guitar lines and toe-tapping beats, in a live setting it’s a wicked shot of catharsis. With a sea of voices belting out the accusatory, “You probably think that you are better now / You only say that ‘cause I’m not around”, it’s a cross-over anthem of wounded pride that’s simply made for packed-out stadiums.

When the moment calls for…a little country swagger

An artist who has long flirted with country, 2024 album ‘F-1 Trillion’ came as a full on dive into twang-laden, honky-tonk waters. Collaborating with an impressive number of the genre’s legends, this duet with Blake Shelton is a masterclass in barstool storytelling, coloured by Malone’s signature laid-back cool. Seeming just as home in this realm as he has in any of the genres he’s previously dabbled in, there’s a real charm to this side of him. The perfect moment for the musician to take on the role of country crooner, swaggering across the stage with a beer in hand, this one is tight, rowdy and mischievous in all the ways a great country song should be.

When the moment calls for…sun-soaked singalongs

When it comes to crowd-pleasers, they don’t get much bigger than Sunflower. Transcending its original feature on the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack to become one of the most streamed tracks of all time, it’s a moment of sheer bliss in any Post Malone show. Tailor-made for euphoric singalongs, its gentle beat and swaying vocals bring an undeniable summer glow, perfect for watching the last few glimpses of sunlight disappear. Delightfully simple and infectiously optimistic, it radiates the kind of warmth that only live music truly can.

When the moment calls for…stripping it all back

Tucked away quietly at the tail end of his debut album, Feeling Whitney has become an absolute fan favourite over the past nine years. A soul-baring staple of his setlist built around simple acoustic guitar lines and those unmistakable gravelly vocals, the glitz and bravado are entirely stripped away for four minutes here. Spotlight fixed as confessional lyrics pour out over folk-leaning melodies, it’s an aching ode to addiction, pain and bad decisions that can bring the rowdiest of crowds down to a complete whisper. Raw, real and genuinely beautiful, there’s something special about seeing a world-conquering superstar at his most human.

When the moment calls for…celebration

Closing out (almost) every set since its release in 2017, there is no better way to capture Post Malone’s improbable ascent from SoundCloud rapper to an icon of 21st century pop music than Congratulations. A toast to making it against all odds, it’s a victory lap primed for the show’s final blowout, finding a perfect balance between well-earned bragging and a grounded sense of astonishment. Raising a swift middle finger to the doubters, it’s become an absolutely triumphant declaration of Posty’s rise to the top. Whether there’s confetti, fireworks or blazing pyro blasting out during those final notes, you can bet that no one will be making their way home without a huge smile plastered across their face after this.
