Sex Pistols featuring Frank Carter have announced a UK and Ireland tour for December.
Classic Pistol's members Paul Cook, Glen Matlock and Steve Jones will once again team up with the vocalist to celebrate five decades of punk rock with the Anarchy In The U.K. Tour, calling in Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, where they'll play shows at the O2 Academy Brixton and the Eventim Apollo on December 18 and 20, respectively.
The celebratory run of concerts will mark 50 years since the punk pioneers' June 1976 show at Manchester’s Lesser Free Trade Hall, which inspired future members of Joy Division, New Order, The Smiths, The Fall and Buzzcocks. By that September, the Pistols were leading a movement, and in October they signed to EMI and released their seminal track Anarchy In The U.K., taking punk mainstream. Commenting on their first year, Cook said:
"It was kind of like a commando raid. I don't even think a lot of places knew we were playing there. We just turned up and set up. It was all a learning curve for us - getting out there and playing live - we were learning on the job.
"With Anarchy, I think we tapped into a feeling of unrest around the country at the time. The message was pretty simple - just have a go and get out there and do whatever you want to do. It was a new world."
Sex Pistols have been touring with Carter, formerly of Gallows and Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes, since 2024, performing their iconic 1977 album ‘Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols’ in full at headline shows and festivals around the world.
The new winter dates will follow their previously scheduled outdoor UK shows in July and August, including headline performances at the Live At The Piece Hall series in Halifax, Manchester's Castlefield Bowl for Sounds Of The City, Cardiff Castle for the Depot Live series and Scarborough Open Air Theatre. They'll also appear at the Isle of Wight Festival in June.
Tickets for the new shows go on general sale at 9am on Friday (February 27). Their summer dates are on sale now.
