Rostam Shares Second Single Back Of A Truck From Upcoming Album 'American Stories'

Rostam has shared another single from his upcoming album.
Blending emotive songwriting with Americana and Persian influences, Back Of A Truck was co-written with Tobias Jesso Jr. and features electric saz from Amir Yaghmai and Daniel Aged on pedal steel. It arrives with a Antony Muse-directed video that tells a love story on a road trip from New York City to Provincetown, starring Milo Cassidy and Offering Rain. Rostam said:
"Back Of A Truck is about that feeling of being reminded of someone you used to know; hearing that song on the radio—or maybe it’s the smell of laundry that brings you back, then smiling to yourself and wishing them well, choosing to remember it in a way that lets go of the bad and holds on to the good.
"Musically I wanted to make a song that captures the feeling of driving through America with your windows down. Putting elements next to each other that I had not heard together before. Country Pedal steel next to Middle Eastern microtonal melodies. It feels like the America I know, and for that reason, it’s the centerpiece of the new record."
The track offers a further glimpse into 'American Stories', due out on May 15 via Rostam's own Matsor Projects via Secretly Distribution.
The Grammy-winning songwriter and producer introduced the follow-up to 2021's 'Changephobia' in March, alongside the release of its first single, Like A Spark, and its video, taken from American Stories: A Concert Film. Advance screenings will take place in New York at Anthology Film Archives on May 5 and at Los Angeles' Brain Dead Studios on May 11. Both sold-out events will include a post-screening Q&A with Rostam and Muse, along with a live performance.
The film, directed by Muse, features Rostam performing eight songs live with his six-piece band. It was filmed at the iconic Sound City Studio A, where artists like Nirvana, Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty have recorded.
Rostam will support the LP with a North American tour this spring, followed by European shows in the autumn, including a performance at London's Village Underground on September 8. Tickets are on sale now.
