Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer Rostam Batmanglij was born in Washington, DC in 1983. He attended Columbia University to study classical music and simultaneously focused on songwriting, recording, and production in his own time. In his last year at university he began producing the first full-length album of his career, Vampire Weekend's self-titled debut.
Rostam announced his departure from Vampire Weekend in the beginning of 2016. By the end of that year he had contributed songwriting and production to several of the most important albums of the year – including Frank Ocean’s Blonde, Solange’s A Seat at the Table, Discovery, Hamilton Leithauser, and Haim.
Rostam rolled out his first solo single, Bike Dream, and followed it with the release of his debut album, 'Half-Light' in September 2017 on Nonesuch Records. Catch him live in November by checking out the tour dates and concert ticket information below on Stereoboard.

Since Rostam Batmanglij officially went solo in January of last year, the New Yorker has been busy. A production CV that already boasted work with Frank Ocean and Solange Knowles has added RAC, Haim and indie dreamboy du jour Declan McKenna, and while his debut solo album ‘Half-Light’ features music that has been released over the past six years, it is clearly the result of intense studio workshopping.
