Rostam Shares New Single Hardy Featuring Clairo Ahead Of 'American Stories' Release

Rostam has shared a third track ahead of the release of his new album.
Hardy is a soaring duet with Clairo that reunites her with the Grammy-winning songwriter and producer, who helmed her 2019 debut album 'Immunity'.
Rostam created the song's instrumental back in 2012 using a sample of Georges Delerue's score for François Truffaut's 1973 film Day For Night, as well as drums sampled from a song by François Hardy. Even though the drum sample didn't make the final cut, it inspired the track's title. The completed version features cello by Hamilton Berry, bass clarinet by Henry Solomon and piano by Rostam, who said:
"Hardy is a song about looking forward and looking back. Ultimately, I hope it leaves you with some feeling of hope for the future. I’m so happy Claire could make a guest appearance and sing her own section of the song— I have always loved the way her voice communicates optimism."
The song serves as the latest preview of 'American Stories', due out this Friday (May 15) via Rostam's own Matsor Projects via Secretly Distribution, following his earlier tracks Back of a Truck and Like a Spark.
The album's companion film, American Stories: A Concert Film, recieved special advance screenings at New York's Anthology Film Archives last week and at Los Angeles' Brain Dead Studios last night. Directed by Muse, the film shows Rostam performing eight songs live with his six-piece band at Sound City Studio A, the legendary studio where artists like Nirvana, Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty have recorded.
Rostam will support the album with a North American tour kicking off later this month, followed by European dates later in the summer, including an appearance at End of the Road festival and a show at London’s Village Underground on September 8. Tickets are on sale now.
