Paul McCartney has collaborated with drummer Ringo Starr on a new song, marking the first time the two Beatles have recorded a duet.
Nostaligic and melodic, Home To Us is about their upbringing in working class Liverpool and offers a further glimpse into McCartney's new album, 'The Boys of Dungeon Lane', due out on May 29 via MPL/Capital.
It's the only track on the record to feature a guest drummer, with Starr originally planning to only a sing a line or two, before McCartney encouraged him to take on a full duet. It also includes backing vocals from Chrissie Hynde and Sharleen Spiteri. McCartney said in a statement:
"In writing the song I’m talking about where we came from. In common with a lot of people, you come from nothing and you build yourself up. Ringo was from the Dingle, and that was well hard. He said he used to get mugged coming home, because he worked. Even though it was crazy, it was home to us."
McCartney introduced the follow-up to 2020's 'McCartney III' in March, alongside the release of the first single, Days We Left Behind. He played his first shows of the year at Los Angeles' Fonda Theatre that same month.
