Billy Corgan has announced UK and European shows for later this year.

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman will take A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness, his orchestral and operatic reimagining of the band's 1995 album, to London's Royal Festival Hall on September 1 and 2, followed by a show in Antwerp, two nights in Paris and a date in Madrid.

The announcement follows the success of a seven-date run at the Lyric Opera of Chicago last November. The new shows will follow the same format with each concert reimagining 'Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness', including classic tracks Tonight, Tonight, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, and 1979, with orchestral arrangements by Corgan and Grammy-nominated conductor James Lowe. As a preview of what to expect, check out performance videos of 1979 and Tonight, Tonight below. Corgan said:

"The success of translating Mellon Collie into operatic and classical form has been one of the most satisfying experiences of my life. Where on each of the 7 sold out nights in Chicago we’d finish within the raucous wave of a standing ovation. So to now take it on the road, and to Europe, too says this magical dream doesn’t have to end."

Lowe added: "It has been so gratifying to discover how the nuances and layers of Mellon Collie reveal themselves in fresh new ways in these symphonic, choral and operatic settings. To now have the opportunity to perform this work in Europe with world class musicians in such important venues is nothing short of thrilling."

Tickets for the London and Madrid shows go on general sale at 10am local time on Thursday (May 14), while the Antwerp and Paris dates go on sale at 10am local time on Wednesday (May 13).

In related news, The Smashing Pumpkins will headline Chicago's Lollapalooza in July. They'll also top the bill of Huntington Beach's Darker Waves Festival in November. Tickets are on sale now.

The Chicago alt-rock legends put out their latest album, 'Aghori Mhori Mei', in 2024. Corgan, meanwhile, released his third solo album, 'Cotillions', in 2019, under his full name, William Patrick Corgan.

Since their last album, they've dropped 30th and 25th anniversary reissues of 'Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness' and 'Machina/The Machines of God', respectively. Earlier this year, they teamed up with Yungblud for a new version of the British rocker's track Zombie.
