Yungblud And The Smashing Pumpkins Team Up For Reimagined Version Of Zombie

Yungblud has collaborated with The Smashing Pumpkins for a new version of Zombie.
The original version of the track appears on Yungblud's fourth studio album, 2025's 'Idols', which is nominated for Best Rock Album at the upcoming 68th Annual Grammy Awards, alongside nods for Zombie (Best Rock Song) and his live cover of Black Sabbath's Changes (Best Rock Performance).
The darker and heavier reworking features the Chicago alt-rock legends' frontman Billy Corgan contributing his distinctive vocals alongside the band's distorted guitars, diving deeper into the song's emotional core. Yungblud explained:
"'Siamese Dream' was an album that was there for me more than I could ever explain when I was growing so to be making music with the band that created it is really quite hard to comprehend. Billy has always been such a massive inspiration to me but more recently a huge mentor of mine. His outlook on the importance of truth in art is something that I’ve always held close to my heart.
"Zombie is the most important song of 'IDOLS' to me. It’s deeply personal and it was heavily influenced by The Smashing Pumpkins’ ability to mix emotion, cinema and heavy guitars. I sent Billy an email, asking if he would re-imagine this song with me and when he agreed to it, it was a dream come true. To watch one of my idols work on something that I had written was one of the greatest honours of my life. I love that this new version of Zombie is heavier, it has Billy Corgan’s iconic guitar sound, it has more urgency and it rips my heart out. I’m so proud of it."
"Yungblud’s star shines bright, so it’s been great fun to lend our zig-zag voice to his Zombie which he’s said was inspired by one of our own," Corgan added. "Hence the encouragement that we make this rendition as personal as possible and I’m proud to say we’ve done that; if only to honor him in return."
Head below to view the track's accompanying video, directed by Charlie Sarsfield. It comes hot on the heels of an acoustic version of the song, released at the end of 2025 with a Jesse Jo Stark-directed video.
The collaboration follows Yungblud's 'One More Time' joint EP with Aerosmith, which dropped in December and features the single My Only Angel.
Back in November, Yungblud cancelled his remaining 2025 tour dates in the US, Mexico and Latin America following advice from a doctor. He's set to resume his Idols World Tour this weekend in Australia, followed by UK and Ireland shows in April, and a spring North American leg in May and June. Tickets are on sale now.
Last summer, Yungblud's documentary YUNGBLUD. ARE YOU READY, BOY?, directed by Paul Dugdale, premiered in cinemas worldwide for a limited time.
