Son Lux Announce Ninth Album 'Out Into' And Accompanying Tour Dates

Son Lux have announced their ninth album.
The American trio will drop 'Out Into' through City Slang on September 19, marking their first full-length release since their 'Tomorrows' album series, released amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. Founder Ryan Lott said:
"We’re going places we’ve never gone before in terms of energy, attitude, colour. And it all comes from having reverence for those initial sparks, for treating the voice memo version of the idea as the most sacred iteration."
"These songs are about losing and finding ourselves. How we lose ourselves in relationships, in work, in our children, in our pursuits and desires. So how do we find ourselves? How do we find each other?"
Recorded between film projects over two years, the album is previewed by the soaring lead single Endlessly, which was originally commissioned by the Ohio-based marching ensemble the Bluecoats, until Son Lux realised it was a better fit for their new record.
Propelled by driving percussion, it delivers one of their catchiest choruses yet and marks their first new material since earning two Oscar nominations and a BAFTA nomination for their score to Everything Everywhere All At Once, as well as composing the soundtrack for Marvel's Thunderbolts. The band explained:
"Endlessly is about surrendering to who you are rather than resisting it. There’s vulnerability in that, but also freedom. The song started as something commissioned for performance, but it quickly became central to the emotional language of the album."
The three-piece, completed by guitarist Rafiq Bhatia and percussionist Ian Chang, will embark on a world tour following the album's release, spanning the US, Mexico, Europe, the UK and Japan between October and March 2027. Tickets for the UK, European and US dates go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (May 22).
