Decolonise Fest is set to return to East London this autumn for its ninth edition.
FROZEMODE, Miki Berenyi, Third Kulture, Hang Linton, Silver Tabby and TM Distant complete the line-up, joining previously announced artists Sacred Paws, Baby Said, Uninvited, Mashaal, eatboys., and Dygora at Signature Brew Blackhorse Road in Walthamstow in October.
Returning for its biggest year yet, the event brings together a musical line-up, workshops, panel talks and creative activities to celebrate punks and alternative artists of colour, with the full programme of workshops and panel discussions that will be announced next month. Alex Ekong, spokesperson for Decolonise Fest, said:
"This is our ninth year running Decolonise Fest and we’re so excited to host another festival packed with an amazing representation of the genre-bending, forward-looking POC alternative music that is around today. We are grateful to Arts Council England and Supporting Grassroots Music Fund for helping fund this year’s event again. Spaces like this are important for so many POC music lovers who seek an inclusive event where they can become part of a community."
Previous editions have featured artists such as Nova Twins, Bob Vylan, Big Joanie and Master Peace, while the festival has also expanded beyond London with its Decolonise Fest On Tour series in Glasgow, Birmingham and Leeds over the last two years.
What? Founded in 2017 within a grassroots space, the pioneering festival celebrates punks and alternative artists of colour through live music, community, workshops and discussion.
