DIIV have shared the first single from their recently announced fifth album.

The Fountain utilises shoegazey guitar and anthemic rock to aid the band in stepping into a bigger sound. It is the opening track, and first preview, of the A.G. Cook-produced 'ZIRP!', due out on October 30.

When DIIV first started working on the follow-up to 2024's 'Frog In Boiling Water' with Cook, known for his work with Charli XCX and Caroline Polachek, the producer said, "It was in the spirit of destroying and rebuilding their demos, Screamadelica-style, into a finished product, but that hybrid, half-remix approach felt completely wrong to me."

Instead, Cook spent time understanding DIIV's music, watching them live and figuring out how to take their sound forward. He explained:

"I became a bit obsessed with their live sound, and insisted on recording live drums before most of the songs were even finished. We spent a lot of time recording intricate guitar parts with specific guitar pedals, and as little time as possible doing anything on a computer, at least by my standards. After a few rounds of that, ZIRP! emerged as a concept, and a sort of utopian, dystopian mantra. For me it became a vehicle to push the band into new territory."

DIIV will perform at Balaclava Fest in Brazil on September 27 before joining Interpol for a North American tour in the fall and Basement for a show at Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles on October 20, followed by appearances at Pitchfork Music Festival in London and Paris, and Sonic City in Belgium in November.

'ZIRP!' tracklist:

1. The Fountain
2. Kid
3. When The Glow Came For Us
4. Dare Me
5. The Crash
6. Trillions
7. Us Against You
8. Evangelizer
9. Underground
10. My Star
11. Idiot In The Sky
