The Avalanches Announce Fourth Album 'No Bad Memories' With New Single Can't Get Over Losing You

The Avalanches have announced their long-awaited fourth album.
The Australian electronic group will release 'No Bad Memories' on October 16, marking their first full-length record since 2020's 'We Will Always Love You'. Inspired by the way advertising and technology become tied to our memories, the album explores how nostalgic jingles, start-up sounds and forgotten audio logos can remind of us of the past. The trio explained:
"It's been interesting as adults to reflect on this often stunning period of marketing - the creativity, filmmaking, photography and music - but which was also - you know, selling a completely unobtainable dream. The way we value devices and products; the way we reflect and represent ‘a life lived’; the wonder of memory and deep power of nostalgia, especially in sound.
"Revisiting imagery and jingles from childhood and realizing how profoundly they have stuck… Taking these sound sources from within the heart of this kinda corporate framework and flipping the fragments into our own kind of joyous pop music … eventually we arrived at this world of ‘No Bad Memories.'"
The announcement comes alongside the release of a fourth preview of the album, Can't Get Over Losing You, which blends energetic garage-rock percussion with Robbie Chater, Tony Di Blasi and Andy Szekeres' signature nostalgic samples and vocals from Louisiana producer, multi-instrumentalist and singer Portraits of Tracy.
"Tracy is an hilarious, brave and tender human being who Tony and I have become very close to over the years we’ve been making music together," Chater said. "Almost weekly another song arrives .. ‘I made something new ..what do you guys think !? ' And they’re always SO good. Every single song! Tracy’s production and mixing is insane but it’s her voice and songwriting that break my heart time after time, truly a generational talent! We feel very fortunate to make music together."
Portraits of Tracy added: "Working with The Avalanches was such an awesome experience! I don’t find myself collaborating too often with peeps, but as soon as we connected it felt just right. We started the song in 2024 and rerecorded it / finished it in 2025, and now she just sounds lovely!"
The album will also feature The Avalanches' earlier singles Blue Shadows featuring Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O, Together with Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza and Prentiss, and their Jamie xx collaboration Every Single Weekend, though the full tracklist has yet to be revealed.
The Avalanches are set to appear at Lost Village Festival in Lincolnshire later this month, followed by two dates at London's Roundhouse in November, the first as part of Pitchfork Music Festival and the second as a headline show billed as The Avalanches & Friends. They'll also play New York's Terminal 5 in October, and appear at DJ sets for Simple Things festival in Bristol, The Dare's Freakquencies party in France, Poplar and C2C in Italy, and Les Nuits Weekender in Belgium, with more dates to be announced soon.
