The Chicago-raised, Brooklyn-based musician will release 'Me and the Music' through Dead Oceans on October 23, following 2023's 'Supermodels'.
Co-produced with the revered John Congleton, the album showcases a brighter sound and themes of relief and optimism. Its first single, She Doesn't Love Me, is an upbeat indie-pop bop that compares the United States to a toxic relationship, while celebrating togetherness and hope for change. Explaining how the album took shape, Claud said:
"I was just sick of taking everything so seriously — Supermodels was such a serious record, and I just sulked in feelings for so long. Such terrible things have happened in this country the last few years, but I’ve only grown closer to the people around me because of that. The world has shown me that the worst can happen, but it might just bring you closer to your community. There’s a difference between being sincere with life and taking life too seriously."
On the new song, Claud added: "I love the community I have in America and find so much optimism in people being united in seeking progress. This is a love song for that community." Its accompanying video sees them finding comfort in their community after feeling disconnected. Keep an eye out for cameos from Clairo, Samia, Annie DiRusso, and more.
