Ronnie Dio Cancer Update

A few months ago Stereoboard.com reported that former Black Sabbath front man Ronnie Dio had been struck down with stomach cancer. The veteran rocker and the only man to ever replace Ozzy Osbourne has now released a statement updating fans on the cancer treatment he has been receiving.

As one of the most talked about episodes in rock n roll history, in 1978 the band Black Sabbath threw out their singer and co-creator, Ozzy Osbourne, after it was decided that he was doing too much drugs to be part of the band. Sabbath continued without Ozzy however and American singer Ronnie Dio was recruited to fill the void left by the prince of darkness, rising up to even greater levels of fame.

Still a metal icon to this day, Ronnie Dio recently stunned fans after he confirmed that he was suffering form cancer. Undergoing treatment for the last few months, the singer has released a new statement to fans giving an update on how things are.

Dio’s wife explained that, "after a few hiccups between Christmas and New Year's, such as a blood clot, a trip to the emergency room, and a three-day stay at the hospital, we had a quiet holiday spent with family and close friends. Ronnie and I just returned from Houston, where Ronnie had his third chemo treatment, and all seems to be going well."

Whilst on the road to recovery, the singer seems to be finding time to keep up to date with pop culture. "Ronnie and Simon Wright (Dio drummer) went to see Avatar, which Ronnie thought was amazing!" his wife claimed.

In other news, the statement also revealed that "He (Ronnie Dio) has also been writing more chapters for his book." A book you say? With Ozzy Osbourne’s book currently on the shelves to buy, could it mean that Black Sabbath may possibly be the first band to have two different singers release a book within the same year?
