The Enemy Plan Short Break From Music

Midlands indie group The Enemy have announced that they are to take time off from music as lead singer Tom Clarke has bought a farm.

Hailing from Coventry, The Enemy have risen from small time pub gigs to become one of the biggest bands in the country. With their songs based around the 9 to 5 life, their odes to working class life quickly grasping the attention of the nation.

Their debut album ‘We’ll Live And Die In These Towns’ was a huge chart success that brought the arrival of their follow up album ‘Music For The People’ last year. After a successful year, it now seems as though The Enemy are ditching the city life temporarily as lead singer Tom Clarke has bought a farm.

In an interview with BBC Newsbeat it was revealed that the trio will be taking time off as the singer wanted to re-decorate his new farm. "We're just taking it easy, taking our time," Clarke said. "I've bought this ridiculous farm and I'm trying to decorate it so I can move in. We've not got a tour for a few months and you go, 'Oh, I'll put my feet up'. But instead of that you get home and you write more songs than you've ever written in your life."

Fans shouldn’t worry that this may be the end of The Enemy however. Clarke spoke out about his move to the countryside sparking a rejuvenated sense of song writing ambition. We're going back to rehearsing how we used to because we can't not rehearse, we'd miss it too much. A lot of the tunes we're writing are pretty old-school Enemy and its pretty exciting." It would appear The Enemy are planning to head back to their roots.
