Kodaline are an Irish indie rock band from Dublin, consisting of frontman Steve Garrigan and guitarist Mark Prendergast, drummer Vinny May and bassist Jason Boland.
Formed in 2005, as 21 Demands, the band released their debut single, Give Me a Minute, which hit the top spot in the Irish Singles Chart, before changing their name, and releasing their debut EP, ‘The Kodaline’, in 2012.
The band were nominated for the BBC’s Sound of 2013 and released their debut album, ‘In a Perfect World’, in 2013, which hit #3 in the UK Albums Chart. Their second album, ’Coming Up for Air’, was released in 2015, and reached #4 in the chart.
The band have headlined their own shows and tours across the UK and Ireland, including a hometown show on New Year's Eve in 2014, as well as shows in Europe and the USA. Kodaline returned with UK and European shows in December 2017.
Kodaline returned with their highly-anticipated third record, 'Politics of Living', in September 2018. They're touring North America for the rest of 2018, and then head to Australia this March, before two huge hometown shows in Dublin in the summer. Fantastic live band - you must see them live! They sound much better live than they do on CD in my opinion, every song they sang was incredible and sounded as good or if not better than the album. Ive had the album for a while and they totally lived up to my expectations of seeing them live. I think they are destined for much bigger things and Iannot wait to see them at XFM Winter Wonderland next month!
Only a matter of time until they step up to arena venues
London Islington Assembly Hall on June 11 2013
Destined for bigger things, Ireland's Kodaline were phenomenal at London's Islington Assembly Hall. Their anthemic pop-rock is perfect for the stadium and festival setting and its only a matter of time before they make the step up. Despite their music being a little predictable at times, the songs are so well written the audience lap it up.
