Kodaline Tease Final Studio Album With New Single We Were Only Young

Kodaline have released a new single, We Were Only Young.
Pairing soaring vocal harmonies with orchestral elements, the emotive piano ballad was co-written by frontman Steve Garrigan and producer Mads Christensen. Introducing the song, Garrigan said:
"We Were Only Young is a bittersweet song about looking back on better times, knowing you can’t ever go back. Like most songs I write, it comes from something real, that feeling of being part of something special, and only fully understanding it with time. In some ways, it reflects the journey we’ve been on together."
The reflective track serves as the first preview of the Dublin band's fifth and final studio album, which is expected later this year via Concord Records.
The four-piece, completed by Vinny May, Jason Boland and Mark Prendergast, confirmed late last year that they will disband after more than a decade together. Last month, they announced their Farewell Tour across Asia, Australia, Europe and the UK, which will run from September to December.
The tour will follow the indie band's previously announced summer concerts at Cork's Virgin Media Park and Dublin's Malahide Castle, which they'll warm up for with a gig at Belfast's Ulster Hall on June 17. Tickets for all dates are on sale now.
They released their debut album 'In a Perfect World' in 2013 and their latest LP, 'One Day At a Time', in June 2020, followed by a deluxe edition a few months later. They also put out their first live record, 'Our Roots Run Deep', in 2022.
